As we all know, it's the bartender that really makes the difference when you order a drink. No two bartenders pour the same drink, they have their own personal style and we wouldn't ask for their secrets. Here at Tip Your Bartender we try to give you an accurate recipe for the drinks we sample but recipe’s do vary from bar and bartender.

For this Featured Drink we went specific, Kamikazes at the Black Watch in Los Gatos, CA. Kamikazes have been long time tradition at this small dark pub on the main drag of downtown LG and we wanted part of the experience.

When I asked for a pitcher of Kamikazes, Luke looked a little surprised and thought he was in for sharing a “Foo Foo” drink with one of his best friends at a bar. But once Robert served us up and we each had a taste of our citrus quenching beverage, things changed. Luke cherished the cocktail and threw them back quick. The glasses were a little small. The lime juice added the right amount of sweetness and the Triple Sec and Vodka added the swift luscious kick. Three simple ingredients, on the rocks, in perfect harmony, to deliver the famous drink that everyone was raving about. This wasn't’t an over-the-top sweet pansy cocktail, it was a perfect starter to a great evening. Within a few minutes the bar was packed and Robert had made over 10 pitchers. We opted for a beer, after the pitcher yielded about 3 small cocktails each. We didn't’t want to over do it.

Next time you’re in or around Los Gatos, stop in the Black Watch, the only real bar left in LG, and get a pitcher of Kamikazes. Get the originals, I hear the cranberry Kamakazes are a little “Foo Foo.”
